I've been playing scrabble off and on for years...in the last year started playing seriously via my Scrabble club. Within the last month I've been playing at the Online Scrabble Club (Wordbiz.com).
It has suddenly occurred to me that it will be fun to keep track of all the words I use in my scrabble career.
So yesterday, I started writing down all the words I spelled (the words I spelled and any offshoots) while playing online, and after the end of each game I highlight the words in my dictionary.
I seem to average 30 words a game. At this rate, if I play 3 games a day, 365 days a year, that'll be 32,000 words a year (shaving off, and this might not be enough, 850 words that are duplicates - for example those 2 letter words like ZA, XI, XU, etc. that come in soooo handy and that I seem to use every game, if I'm fortunate enough to get the Z or the X!)
The Scrabble dictionary has 100,000 words in it. So at 32,000 a year, it would take me 3 years to use every word in the dictionary. Of course, that's not counting all those 7 and 8 letter words, and obscure words, that you might ever only use once in a lifetime, let alone three years.
Nevertheless, it will be amusing to track my progress.
